CME Congress Spousal Program

VICTORIA EXCURSION
Thursday, May 29, 2008
Pickup at the Hyatt Regency, 8:00 am

Join us for a tour of BC’s capital city aboard an airconditioned coach. The excursion includes a 90-minute cruise through the Gulf Islands aboard BC Ferries, a tour of the world famous Butchart Gardens, and a Victoria city tour of Chinatown, Downtown Victoria, Beacon Hill Park, the Fairmont Empress Hotel, and the ParliamentBuildings. There will be ample time for you to take in the sights on your own as well. The tour will return to the Hyatt Regency at approximately 9:45 pm. You may sign up for this tour on the registration form.

The Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) is the fifth largest art gallery in Canada and the largest in Western Canada. Its permanent collection of over 9,100 items includes more than 200 major works by Emily Carr, the Group of Seven, and illustrations by Marc Chagall. The VAG’s collection of over 9000 works of art represents the most
comprehensive resource for visual culture in British Columbia. It is a principal repository of works produced in this region, as well as related works by other Canadian and international artists. The guided tour will include the permanent collection, as well as their groundbreaking summer exhibition Krazy!, featuring a compilation of animé, comics, video games, and art on two floors of the gallery.

Delegates are invited to join their spouses on Friday afternoon for a guided tour of CME Congress 2008’s host city, beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia! Your narrated four hour tour includes Vancouver’s Entertainment District, Robson Street, Stanley Park (where you can disembark at the Totem Poles and Prospect Point), English Bay, Granville Island (where you can disembark and grab a snack), Chinatown (the2nd largest in North America!), Gastown, and the Harbour Tower Lookout, where you will enjoy a panoramic 360° view of the city. The excursion fee includes the narrated tour aboard a luxury coach and admission to the Harbour Lookout.

The Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia is world-renowned for its collections, as well as its spectacular architecture and unique setting on the cliffs of Point Grey. MOA houses some 35,000 ethnographic objects. Permanent exhibits emphasize the First Nations of coastal British Columbia, as well as one of the largest collections of ceramics.

Capilano Suspension Bridge
Naturally thrilling crowds since 1889, the Capilano Suspension Bridge is breathtakingly suspended 450 feet (135m) across and 230 feet (70m) above Capilano River. Cross over to Treetops Adventure and walk from one magnificent Douglas fir to another via a series of seven elevated suspension bridges, some reaching as high as 100 feet (30m) above the forest floor. A complete West Coast experience just minutes from Downtown.

Vancouver Maritime Museum
